#Sharing economic benefits by maximising local participation and jobs

The importance of community legacy is central to our culture. We want the benefits of social procurement to flourish during construction and long after the project is completed.

This places jobs, diversity, training and skills development front of mind at every step of project delivery.

A hallmark of our four decades working across regional and metropolitan Australia has been our commitment to understanding our communities and sourcing local subcontractors and suppliers. On the ground in regional centres, we go the extra mile to tap into and uplift the skills and capability of each area.

Partnering with clients and community leaders, we inject millions of dollars into local economies through the creation of career pathways and apprenticeships and by developing local business capability. This includes connecting First Nations People directly with subcontractors and actively supporting Indigenous businesses.

As active community members, we back local groups and organisations, investing through sponsorships and donations and our people regularly volunteer and fundraise in support of local and social endeavours.

“Watpac has actually taken a really personal approach with our local community. They have responded to anything the community wanted to talk about. Nothing has been too difficult. We’ve built a really solid relationship.”
